When Silco said, “Wish you were here, I’d make it better,” this is NOT what he expected. Jinx drives all night to her online academic mentor’s house in the hills because she messed up at school, and he’s offered to help her out. “If you were here,” He muses, static crackling over the line as his voice creeps deeper, holding the phone closer to his lips, “I’d make it better.” Silco shifts, wine glass in hand, and picks up the device from his coffee table, where it sits on speaker. “I- I don’t know what to do.” The voice is small and helpless on the other end of the phone.
